DAY 69 👄

Grainy will be the way! I love how it gives a lil vintage touch. + the contrast of texture with the flat colours looks nice.

didn't mean to be rude

DAY 68

I started to use 2 different texture for the dark tone. I'm gonna have to make a choice here cause it's not working.

smooth or grainy?

DAY 66

gotta wait the next month to get money for the paint lol
6
A little sketch for a mural piece that I really want to do. Dedication to all those people who judge hard other people's flaws/mistakes without questioning their own attitude.

DAY 65

I forgot to talk about this little sketch I did a few days ago. It is part of the "draw my character in your style" challenge. An old challenge but I finally decided to participate, because an artist I really really like posted a character to redraw. Just to let you know how I like that artist and his drawings; he inspired my style a loooot. So It was hard for me to make something that different lol.

she's summoning panda poo
I mean just the perspective/point of view of the character is amazing

DAY 64 (day 4 BP portrait award)

I think the next painting will be based on my illustration's world :)
FINISSSHEEEDD
Is it really??? Well, I hate looking at it. But it IS the end of my rally, so I give it a rest for now, cause I need to do something else. I fucked it up a bit, added too much contrast on some part (around the nose). The eyes or the part between the eyes is not working. But the idea is there. HAVE FUN GRUMPY MAYA.
--also I did NOT enter it--

PS: Big thanks to my friend Franke who is letting me use his space to paint and let me eat all his custard biscuits 😬
We can do a lot on our own but way more with others, in 2019 I'll try to "use" the potential of my connections more and make things happen.

DAY 63 (day 3 BP portrait award)

I meant to look grumpy, but my real grumpy face looks a bit better than this
Okay so I added more paint, more colours/contrast/etc, and I'm like, half pleased. There is something about me in this, but also a lot is not right. I learned loads about the process though. I mean, a slight change of tone can completely change the feel of the face's shape, and expression, and all. It's a really delicate work and to be honest, for a first for 10 years, this is amazing. At this stage I'm already looking forward to the next one I'm gonna make with all the new knowledge I gathered.

DAY 62 (day 2 BP portrait award)

I then decided not to include the glittery flowers lol
Today I decided to take a break from my face and only work on the background. I'm super please on my colour matching! It felt really different to work on precise shapes like that, I think I prefer it, that way of painting is closer to my illustration practice, so I feel more confident.
Also, I noticed that I can only work during the day when the natural light is out so I would need to rush the painting a bit... Cause when I decided to start this self-portrait, I was imagining myself working through the night H24 but it is technically impossible with the set up I started with.

DAY 61 (day 1 BP portrait award)

looking not too bad but there is not much paint on that canvas #lackofconfidence

Ok, so I had the crazy idea to participate in the BP Portrait Award. The deadline is on Monday 21st midnight. The last time I used oil paint was 10 years ago. Let's go.

DAY 60

go to my instagram page to see it full!
I made a second piece while on vacation, and when I was busy painting it I had interactions with the locals and everything has been really positive 😄
